Tool allows to simulate future scenarios in the long term

By Carla Cristina Passos Cruz |

Neoenergia, a company of the energy sector since 1997, presented a computational simulation tool that analyzes the economic and technical impacts of new technologies and regulatory frameworks in an integrated way, in order to create a sustainable business model in the face of changes in the sector. The tool is a further development of the Smart Future project (or SmartF – Future Regulatory and Technological Environment Simulation and Modeling), through the initiative in Research and Development regulated by the National Eletric Energy Agency (Aneel). It allows the assessment and future simulation of various long-term scenarios, simultaneously and with rapid forecasts. The completion of the SmartF is set to the end of 2022.

Impacts on Defense and Security: The SmartF seems to have a very interesting applicability, once the tool identifies international scenarios of regulatory milestones and consumer behavior. Therefore, it could serve as a basis for building tools in other areas lacking the same technology and that require prospective scenario analysis.
